Our Founders
Built by the Industry,
For the Industry
Tradesconnect was founded with a shared belief that the construction industry needs a stronger, more connected pathway for its future workforce.
Why We Built Tradesconnect
Our founders bring together experience from across construction, education, technology — and crucially, the supplier sector. By involving supplier industry experts as founding partners, Tradesconnect has been built with real-world industry insight from the very beginning.
This ensures the platform not only connects tradespeople, students, and employers, but also strengthens the vital relationships with suppliers who keep the industry moving.
Together, our founders are committed to driving Tradesconnect forward to become the UK's go-to platform for construction — supporting today's trades, inspiring tomorrow's workforce, and creating a stronger, more collaborative industry for all.

Inventor of The Brick Bud | Advocate for Safety in Construction Education
Carl Harris's journey from a seasoned bricklayer to a safety innovator began with a life-altering incident on a construction site. After nearly 30 years in the trade, a wall he had braced using standard timber methods collapsed, resulting in severe leg injuries. This accident led to a two-year hiatus from work and a significant personal and professional transformation.
Determined to prevent similar accidents, Carl pursued a Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualification and transitioned into safety management. During the COVID-19 lockdown, he developed the Brick Bud, a patented A-frame wall bracing system designed to prevent collapses in high winds and reduce site accidents. The Brick Bud has since been adopted by major construction firms, including Bellway Homes and Lovell Homes, and is now used in training environments and on construction sites.
Carl's commitment to safety extends beyond innovation. He actively collaborates with further education colleges to introduce the Brick Bud to the next generation of construction professionals. His efforts have been recognized with awards such as the Stephenson Shield and the NBCA Health and Safety Gold Award.
In partnership with Tradesconnect, Carl aims to integrate safety education into apprenticeships and college programs, ensuring that future tradespeople are equipped with the knowledge and tools to work safely from the outset of their careers.
